Group Oriented Missions

Many people have complained in the past of a lack of group centered missions that offer true storyline immersion and a challenge. Some questions to ask are is it really feasible to create content in swg for large groups through some sort of questing/mission system? If so, what types of missions should be given for players to do? How do players get access to these missions? What are the challenges involved on these missions? What are the rewards for successfully completing them?

Idea for squad leader based missions

One of the things that is lacking in SWG are complex dungeon crawls or other content that requires a large group of people to spend a concerted effort over a prolonged length of time to acheive some result. This game is not like EQ which has dungeons all over the place. Its terminal mission based. What I would like to suggest is we make the SL class accessible to complex mission for large groups with mission terminals similar to BH's. The missions would give us SL Mission experience and allow us to progess up the Missions tree where the challenges continue to increase and so do the benefits.

SL Mission 1 should be geared for groups of 5 people who are all at around the novice elite/hybrid level and should take about 30 minutes to complete. Upon completing all of the required missions, everyone in your group gains a +X% exp bonus when your leading it.

SL Mission 2 should be geared for groups of 10 people who are all at around the 2nd level rung of elite/hybrid professoin and should take about 1 hour to complete. Upon completing all of the required missions, everyone in your group gains a additional +X% exp bonus when your leading it.

SL Mission 3 should be geared for groups of 15 people who are all at around the 3rd level rung of elite/hybrid profession and should take about 2 hours to complete. Upon completing all of the required missions, everyone in your group gains a additional +X% exp bonus when your leading it.

SL Mission 4 should be geared for groups of 20 people who are all at around the 4th rung of elite/hybrid profession and should take about 3 hours to complete. Upon completing all of the required missions, everyone in your group gains a additional +X% exp bonus when your leading it.

Master SL Missions should be geared for multiple squads of 20 people each who are all at around the Master level of their elite/hybrid profession and should take about 4 hours to complete. Completion of these missions should result in some of the best items available in the game.

A Master SL would truly have to prove their abilities to attain that title, and they would be worth their weight in credits to any PA. Plus, I believe there would be a significant increase in the number of prospective SL's, creating a much more group oriented culture (in a positive way) then what is currently the case.

Types of SL missions

- if a SL gets missions from "tactical command", then the team will sure get some payout.
- the XP for the kills will be given. I see little way around that.
- loot on the targets makes sense
- the targets won't be that animals where people always search for.

In my oppinion, valid targets of such SL-Missions would be:
- a camp/base/outpost of the opposite faction if the SL is in the GCW.
- camps of criminals, etc.
- and for the mercenary or "criminal" SL there should also pop up missions against groups like Gungans, Borvos, RSF or Corsec.

Those missions could of course rank up to maximum risk and could include groups of highest level NPCs defending a fortified base. (Yes, base-raids as a mission, why not? If you lack the team, don't take it...) On the other hand, it would exclude Krayts, so no easy way to make those spawn and even get a waypoint to them...
